On April 22nd, Relais & Chateaux hosted the third edition of the Dîner des Grands Chefs at Old Billingsgate by the river Thames. Again, 46 of the Association’s Grands Chefs participated in this Culinary World Tour which started in France at the Château de Versailles in 2011. This year was a celebration of British produce. There was a truly global presence, with 13 different nationalities represented: France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, South Africa, Germany, Singapore and Taiwan.

46 passionate personalities joined forces to create an exceptional culinary “wow”, with cooking stations “pop-up kitchens” so they could live in front of guests. Each chef prepared a dish with a key ingredient “ sourced in the UK” creating their own interpretation of the product: Fresh lobster with Provencal herbs by Emmanuel Renaut, Tandoori spiced Cornish blue lobster by Hélène Darroze, “A tin of sin” with Osetra caviar, crab and cucumber rillettes by Patrick O'Connell & Devonshire crab with celery salad, pink grapefruit and buckler sorrel by Raymond Blanc...

Every table had a unique menu - In total there were 15 different exceptional menus served on the night. The dinner was complemented by magnificent champagnes from the Maison de Champagne Pommery with it’s famous Cuvées Louise 1990, 1999, and Cuvée Louise Rosé 2000.

The Old Billingsgate fish market was decorated to represent the theme of a “Kitchen garden” with vegetation, herbs and flowers from floor to ceiling showing off all the colours of spring – simply stunning!
